Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, has called for prayers and support for President Bola Tinubu, for his administration to be able to handle the complex and protracted challenges confronting the country.

Prince Ogunleye, who is a chieftain of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC), made the appeal at the special birthday celebration organized by the apex leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu Division, in celebration of the 87th birthday anniversary of Pa Salisu Olaribigbe Alogba, at his Ipakodo home, on Thursday.

The political leader also hinted that elders of the leading political group within the APC – Justice Forum, have decided to allow younger elements takeover the management of the group.

“We enjoin party people to continue to pray for President Tinubu in Abuja, because he is handling a very complex and difficult situation. He is managing and finding solutions to many things that have gone from bad to worse since 1960”, former Deputy Governor said.

“He is a man with determination and strong disposition towards anything that he wants to do. That was why he said that the subsidy must go.

“You can see that he is merging many parastatals and agencies which have been mismanaged over the years.

“Our governor also needs our prayers and support. He is trying his best to bring about good governance and he’s getting necessary support from Asiwaju”.

The APC chieftain also said that things would not have been this worse if Awolowo and other sincere and disciplined leaders have been allowed to govern the country.

While also appealing to party members to be patient with the restructuring being done by President Tinubu, that is delaying some appointments, Prince Ogunleye charged them to manage and discharge their responsibilities creditably when eventually giving one appointment or the other.

While commending Pa Alogba who is one of the founders of the Justice Forum, on his birthday, the GAC chieftain also said that elders of the group are working towards giving the management of the group to younger elements to manage.

“Today, I am the Chairman of the body that is overseeing the affairs of the group, but our intention is to allow younger elements to take charge. It is time for us to sit back for young ones to control the affairs of the group before we no longer have the age on our side”, Prince Ogunleye said.

‘When the group was formed, he (Alhaji Alogba) played very prominent roles than many others. At first, they were called Primrose and when Dapo (Sarumi) was asked not to accept the ministerial appointment and he went ahead to, it was Alhaji Alogba that moved the motion then that brought about the creation of JF.

“At our meeting (apex), he always avails us his elderly guidance and advice. He is highly principled and always stay on that course. He is also well respected among the party leaders in Lagos.

“I am here today with other apex leaders to honour him and he shall live longer in good health. I thank you all for coming to honour our leader. He is a formidable personality among us”.
